How ugly can things get in the music wars?image

In this case it’s starting to look like EMI has taken their anger over being denied their “rightful” loot as distributor of the latest Radiohead album, which has instead been released on the Internet.  So the publisher has gone ahead and released a “box set” of all of their previous records in a multitude of formats, including mp3s on a 4gb memory stick that’s totally DRM free.

Even if they are doing it to make a quick buck, it’s hard to say that’s bad, exactly.  But there’s a bittersweet feeling. The best metaphor I can come up with is getting lucky with an angry ex of someone your friends with.  Yeah, you got some action, but it’s pretty clear that they didn’t do it because they actually liked you.
