I’ve long ago reached my limit of excitement over Star Wars, but there’s always something entertaining about putting the fantastic next to the mundane. In this case it’s “Imperial Fleet Week” in San Francisco:

Between this and Target:Women, it’s nice to see viral content from Current TV starting to show up on the web.

Euro Sc-Fi is always interesting to me.  My experience tells me that they can get the beat right, but the songs aren’t always so good.
These trailers make the action look good, and with these kinds of films you often get amazing, hyper-imaginative visuals that are well outside of what traditional Hollywood films would ever consider. But there is also usually story filled with the kind earnest cliches that make me teeth ache.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, how about this: The Fifth Element was love! Yeah… great.

Okay, so this isn’t a genre film, but this is definitely a movie I’m looking forward to.  I’m not an automatic fan of Judd Apatow, but with 40 Year Old Virgin, SuperBad, and Knocked Up he’s proven that he can make some damn funny movies.
Be warned that this is a red band trailer, so there’s swearing and plenty of pot-smoking.

There’s something about this trailer that reminds me of Midnight Run, and that’s a very good thing.

Variety puts up a positive review of the latest genre musical:
If the concept of the midnight movie weren’t moldering in its grave, “Repo! The Genetic Opera” would be cutting-edge fare for the latenight crowd; one can almost hear the aud’s partisan cheering for different internal organs, depending on what is being eviscerated at any particular moment.
